Teaching Resources

At YDance, we value dance as both a physical activity and as an expressive art. We strive to aid the development of children’s appreciation for dance in school by supporting teachers. YDance has created useful and relevant educational resources to support teachers delivering dance as part of the curriculum in Scottish educational settings to enable learning through and about dance.

The experiences and outcomes for dance as part of the Curriculum for Excellence can offer exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary work with other areas of the curriculum. The flexibility of dance as a standalone subject as well as a pedagogical tool for interdisciplinary learning makes dance an effective vehicle to explore many subject areas, including literacy, science, history and more.

Currently, we offer:

  • Shake It Up teaching packs for primary settings – these cover:

  • Introduction to Creative Dance

  • The Human Body

  • What’s in the Ocean?

  • The Solar System

  • Classroom Posters looking at the fundamental components of dance and the choreographic devices for a dance

Please check this page regularly, as we hope to expand our resources through continuous evaluation. All resources can be purchased in our online shop.
