ReCharge
This two-day intensive course, ran in partnership with Dance Base and The Work Room offers experienced and emerging dance artists and teachers, time to come together to reflect on and develop their teaching practice. It will give space to examine teaching methodologies and pedagogy, connect through critical conversations and deepen knowledge of community and youth dance practice. It will leave you feeling personally rejuvenated, knowledgeable and connected to your peers.
Building on YDance’s extensive experience in delivering dance across diverse communities, ReCharge will explore how dance can be a powerful social tool—boosting confidence, developing meta-skills, and fostering emotional awareness while creating fun and engaging learning experiences.
-
Over two days, the course will blend practical workshops with reflective discussions, helping you develop your teaching approach. Key topics include:
The need, context, and landscape for dance
Teaching methodologies and pedagogy—examining the what, why, and how of your practice
Developmental, inclusive, and creative teaching approaches
Working with vulnerable or challenging groups
Safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
Choreographic and creative tasks for educational and community settings.
-
ReCharge will be led by Anna Kenrick (Artistic Director, YDance) and Amy Park (Head of Programmes, YDance).
